  1. Poorly Designed. 2 Star Review

This adapter works, but has two fundamental design flaws?:

    1. The right-angle plug faces the wrong way. When the Ojocam base is stuck to the top of the windshield, the plug should go up toward the headliner. Instead it goes down toward the windshield. That makes no sense since the cable has to loop back up to get to the headliner so the wire can be run.

    2. The power converter is at the wrong end of the cable. It's near the USB connector instead of near the 12V pigtail. So 12" from the Ojocam mounted near the middle of most people's windshields there is a big plastic blob that has to be hidden somehow. It's 3/8" thick so shoving it into the edge of the headliner will be difficult.

I'd send it back and get the regular car charger but I'll see if I can make this work first. At least it's easy to adapt the regular charger to hard-wire. I just thought I'd save a step with this. Not so.

Aside from this cord, I'm very happy with my two Ojocam Pros.

  2. very well designed 5 Star Review

Was quite pleased with this item. The 12V to 5V converter is small, the wire length long. Only thing I had problems with was finding a switched power in the mirror area, and with Google's help, found wiring coding for my mirror and using positaps, wired into it and hid converter in my overhead console. 2000 GMC Sierra SLE with overhead console, Pink Wire Positive, Black Wire Ground, other wires for Compass Temp. My mirror is the Comp Temp, no OnStar.

  3. Power cord is to short. 4 Star Review

Use of the hard wire power cord eliminated the power plug that came with the dash cam.
However the power cord could have been longer. Had to splice about eight more feet onto it.
"Tis easier to trim back than to splice on.

  4. Power cable 4 Star Review

Since this unit is made to hard wire into the 12 volt circuit and to be able to hide the wire, it leaves something to be desired. The input wire should be short and splice to fit underneath the dash console and the output long to keep from having to either splice the micro connector or leaving the converter visible going to Dash cam.
I think it will work fine, but leaves too much work to be done to keep visibility low.

  5. works 4 Star Review

    The unit works fine.
More specs(length/etc) on this site would be useful and it would be nice if this product came with any sort of instructions. I got lucky and figured it out only shorting (2) fuses :).

The wires are short(depending on your app). Total length of the entire product is about 3feet(maybe 4ft). I planned on running this to my fuse box by my feet, but, instead wired it into my dome light.

4 stars for lack of specs and short wires(wires can be lengthened by splicing/adding wire to leads no problem).

The black box(converter?) is close to the Mini USB connection(6-8inches)...this could be an issue if your headliner/trim isn't flexible enough to stuff the box inbetween to keep it hidden(since I wired mine to my dome light I was able to squeeze the Mini USB thru the headliner versus, trying to hide the box by prying on the headliner which would of stressed the "mold"/structure of the headliner). It would be nice if another "model" was offered with a longer Mini USB lead(mini usb, 6-8ft? lead to converter box, converter box, 2-3 feet of power leads), and shorter "power" leads.

anyway it works....general instructions would be nice. I got lucky with my install since I know basically nothing about how this stuff works.
